St. Katherine Senior Secondary School, 17th November 2025
Today stands out as a memorable day for St. Katherine Secondary School as the school had the great honor of hosting Rt. Rev. James Ssebaggala, Bishop Emeritus of Mukono Diocese. He arrived together with his wife, Maama Tezira, and was accompanied by Rt. Rev. Prof. Alfred Olwa, the Bishop of Lango Diocese. Their visit was part of a special programme designed by Bishop Alfred Olwa to bring ten retired bishops to different parts of Lango Diocese for fellowship, mentorship, and pastoral engagement.
The visiting bishop arrived at about 9:00am, and right from the gate, they were welcomed by our MDD students, who sang and danced to traditional Lango songs. The energy and colour of the performance made the visitors feel the warmth and hospitality of the Lango people.

A Morning Filled With Guidance and Encouragement
After the welcome, the guests were received by our Head Teacher, Ms. Akello Margeret, together with members of the administration. In the Head Teacher’s Office, Bishop Ssebaggala shared words of encouragement and guidance on leadership, drawing from his experience both as a church leader and former teacher. The moment ended with a prayer for the Head Teacher and the entire school administration.
The bishops later visited the staff room, where they met with the teachers. Bishop Ssebaggala spoke openly about the value of professionalism, hard work, and prayer in the teaching profession. He reminded teachers that their influence goes far beyond the classroom and encouraged them to remain committed to building the character and future of young people. A prayer of blessing was offered for the staff and the work they do every day.

A Touch of Lango Culture
One of the highlights of the visit was the presentation of a beautifully decorated cow to Bishop Ssebaggala. Led by Bishop Prof. Alfred Olwa and the Head Teacher, the visitors were taken to the school kraal, where the gift was handed over. The gift offering was deeply appreciated by the guests and reflected the respect and warmth that St. Katherine SS extends to its guests.
Afterwards, the visitors enjoyed a nice breakfast and shared lighter moments with the school leadership.

Capturing the Memories
Before leaving, the bishops took photos with teachers, student leaders, and students in front of the Administration Block. The smiles and laughter in those moments showed just how much the visit meant to the school community.
Bishop Alfred Olwa was accompanied by his chaplains: Rev. Okonya Kami, Rev. Jonathan, and Rev. Sam Baker, who also interacted warmly with staff and students.

A Day to Remember
The visit of Bishop Emeritus Ssebaggala and Maama Tezira left St. Katherine SS enriched, encouraged, and spiritually refreshed. It was a day of culture, mentorship, and fellowship, one that will remain in the hearts of students and staff for a long time.
We are grateful for the honor and thank God for this blessing to host two Bishops at the same time.
